La Voz Café in San Juan La Laguna offers more than just a spot to grab coffee—it’s a place where locals and visitors connect with the community and the entire coffee-making process. Nestled in the heart of this lakeside village, the café doubles as a gateway into the region’s coffee culture, making it an ideal stop for those curious about how coffee journeys from bean to cup.

The atmosphere is casual and grounded in the rhythms of everyday life here. Visitors often find themselves lingering over well-crafted cappuccinos—especially the stronger “cappuccino fuerte” made by baristas who are also coffee farmers. This direct connection means you’re drinking coffee sourced straight from the cooperative that runs the café, supporting local producers in San Juan La Laguna. It’s a quiet place where the coffee tastes of the surrounding land and the care put into its cultivation.

Beyond the beverages, La Voz Café is notable for its coffee tours. These guided experiences, conducted in English, guide guests through the cooperative’s farmland and educate on the traditional Maya coffee-growing practices. The tours are affordable compared to others nearby, and local guides often share personal family stories alongside farming knowledge, providing a deep, authentic look at the cooperative’s role in the community.

Visitors who enjoy learning about local culture will find the tours rewarding, and the chance to sip freshly brewed coffee right after the walkthrough adds a tangible layer to the experience. It’s a great afternoon activity, especially if you’re spending time around Lake Atitlán and want something more immersive than the typical lakeside café scene.

For those simply stopping by to enjoy a quiet coffee, the vibe is relaxed and unpretentious. The setting encourages taking a moment to appreciate the local flavors and the people who grow them. Whether you’re a casual coffee drinker or a keen enthusiast, La Voz Café’s blend of quality drinks and community connection shapes a unique, down-to-earth coffee stop in San Juan La Laguna.

I only had coffee, but it was great. They sell locally produced products and support local farmers.

Ask about their coffee tours! They have a wonderful cooperative and a guide can show you around. The price is very fair (half what I was quoted in San Pedro for a similar tour).

We had a great tour with lovely Gabrielle. She explained us (in English) on the coffee plant, what is the process until we get the beans we all familiar with, she explained us more about the Maya culture, and we had a great coffee at the end. We had a great time over there and we have learned a lot from the tour. We are highly recommended to visit La Voz Cafe'!

The best cappuccino that you can get at the Lago! Especially the Cappuccino fuerte is incredibly good when Lukas is making it who is a very experienced barista and coffee farmer himself. On top of that the coffee comes from the cooperative La Voz, which is a cooperative of different coffee producers from San Juan. So the coffee comes directly from here. Highly recommend it!

This was just what we were looking for. We showed up to La Voz Cooperation and William was able to give us a tour in English. His family is one of the families that is part of the coop! It felt authentic and a look at how coffee begins and it’s process from seeds to being exported around the world. We paid 100Q per person.
